Breaking: Tinubu Submits Three Ambassadorial Candidates to National Assembly

President Bola Tinubu has submitted three names for ambassadorial appointments to the National Assembly, the Senate President announced during plenary on Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded three nominees for ambassadorial postings to the Senate, Senate President Godswill Akpabio confirmed at plenary on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The names submitted for consideration are Kayode Are of Ogun State and Aminu Dalhatu of Jigawa State. A third nominee, Ayodele Oke, was listed without a stated state of origin.

Addressing senators, Akpabio said the list currently contains three names but indicated more submissions are expected, signalling that additional diplomatic nominations may be presented in the coming days.

The referral places the nominees before the Senate for screening and confirmation. If approved, they will be cleared to assume Nigeria’s diplomatic postings abroad; if not, the Senate may seek further documentation or clarification before reaching a decision.

Diplomatic appointments typically proceed in batches, and observers note that administrations often stagger submissions to the National Assembly to allow for orderly vetting and scheduling of screenings.
