The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has issued a wanted notice for former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva over an alleged multimillion-dollar fraud.
Sylva, who also previously served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, is being sought in connection with what investigators describe as a $14.8 million scheme involving funds provided by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board. According to the EFCC, the money was committed to Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the development of a refinery but was allegedly diverted through a conspiracy and dishonest conversion.
The anti-graft agency called on the public to assist with any information that could help locate the former governor, directing tip-offs to its offices nationwide. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stressed the need for public cooperation as efforts to track Sylva intensify.
